He finished his education
Osment’s performance in The Sixth Sense opposite Bruce Willis was so good that he was nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a SAG award in 2000. But despite the accolades, his parents Eugene and Theresa made sure he didn’t miss out on an education, and when he was 18 he decided to go to New York University to study experimental theatre.
And while he disappeared from mainstream filmmaking, the actor says it was worth it, telling Vulture it had given him the chance to “make sure this is what I wanted to do and focus in purely on the craft and not the business side of it”.
He was convicted of a DUI
When news came in 2006 that Osment had crashed his car in LA whilst under the influence and in possession of marijuana, it seemed he’d succumbed to the same issues many child actors face as they get older. He was sentenced to three years probation and 60 hours of alcohol rehab, per Today. Luckily it was a one-off, and Osment put it down to just being a “foolish high-schooler”.

He’s been indulging his love of golf
If there’s one thing Osment loves as much as acting, it’s golf. Whether he’s discussing it in great detail on podcasts or doing episodes of Celebrities in Golf Carts on YouTube, he clearly enjoys a regular game with friends. He’s also taken part in the annual Michael Douglas & Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament, per Entertainment Weekly.
He got big into comedy
Aside from starring in dramas such as The Boys and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Osment has made several forays into a less likely genre: comedy. In recent years he’s had roles in Silicon Valley, What We Do In The Shadows, Awkwafina is Nora from Queens, The Kominsky Method and Drunk History.
The actor said on The Adam Carolla Show podcast earlier this month that “a lot of my friends are comedians”, adding, “I never saw myself getting into it intentionally but getting to know that community of people, that’s where the work has been.”

“I know his daughters and it’s been a couple of years now but … he and I got to spend a lot of time together doing this extensive press tour in Japan … He was a really good guy so it’s just a brutal break what happened to him,” he added.He’s about to star in Zoe Kravitz’s new film
